You might be in a cult

At some point, there’s an invisible line that high achievers, high performers and high producers cross.

After you cross that line, there’s this sense that you should have it all figured out, that you should just know what to do, that you’re prepared and equipped to answer all the questions to handle all the crises and challenges, to know what's next. And to have it like that <snaps fingers>, at your disposal.

It's the Cult of Should. “I *should* know how to do this thing.”

Well who f*cking says so?

That is an unfair, external, preconditioned oppression that we put on ourselves.

[I’m getting riled up.  Deep breath, Kari.]

The “Cult of Should” removes your ability to play, to experiment, to fail and to learn.  It makes you fall into the hype of hustle culture.  (You know what I mean? If you’re hustling, you’re “in line” – you’re not disrupting or inciting change.)

And then you spend too much time pretending to be what and who you’re not and not nearly enough time actually being the person you are when no one is looking.

HOWEVER, It’s really important for high achievers, for high performers, for high producers to feel safe, unjudged, and welcomed when you look for support.

It’s okay if you haven’t felt supported in being yourself.  It’s okay that you haven’t yet discovered a safe way to be yourself.

It’s okay that you don’t know how to translate who you are on the inside to your business (or how you go about your bizness) on the outside.

It’s ABSOLUTELY ok that you’ve tried so many Things (I’m looking at you, podcasts and books and courses) hoping to feel like they fit you.

It’s okay to realize you want something else for yourself and not know what it is or how to get it because you’ve been a member of the “Cult of Shoulds”.

But it’s not ok to stay there.

The first step to escaping the “Cult of Shoulds” is… to acknowledge that you’re a member and that you’re not living as your truest, most colorful self every damn day.

But just owning where you are isn’t enough to kick off your journey-to-becoming.  The trick is figuring out where you want to be.

That’s where shortwave comes in.

shortwave creates an experience for you to be supported by somebody who really is in your corner. Who welcomes all of you without judgment.  Who won’t let you get in your own way, so that you can do the radical things, to proclaim unabashedly and unapologetically what you want for yourself, for your life, for your relationships, for your business, for whatever is important to you.  [It’s me, I’m the somebody.]

When you come inside shortwave, you’re invited to dig within yourself and unlock and unleash something that is for you, that is unique and dynamic to you.

You’ll have a safe space to own and amplify the things that make you different instead of hiding them.  To waive your freak flag proud and celebrate it, together.

Wanna get a jumpstart on getting out of your own way so that you can choose you, always?
